Barn Owls in Trouble?

January 5, 2011 at 11:17 am Leave a comment

The cold and snow have an impact on our wildlife of course.  Many of us have been lucky enough to see Barn Owls in East Glamorgan over the last few years.  The Atlas survey work shows this species is present in at least 18 winter and 21 breeding season tetrads.  Areas above the M4 corridor appear to be favoured.

Unfortunately, Barn Owls have suffered, nationally at least, in the bad weather over the last few weeks.  Let’s hope our birds make it through the winter.  They must be high on many birders list of favourite species.
