The Bird Atlas Project ran between 2007-11. In our region there are 339 tetrads (2x2km squares) of which over 300 were covered for the Atlas. Survey work was undertaken by local BTO members, Glamorgan Bird Club (GBC) members and other keen birdwatchers in the area.
Using the data gathered from this project, our local bird club partner, GBC, has produced a local online atlas to complement the BTO’s national publication.
Thanks to everyone who took part, through contributing records to the GBC and submitting Roving Records, Timed Tetrad Visits and indeed by submitting records to other BTO surveys such as WeBS, GBW, BirdTrack and the Ringing Scheme. All data contributed to the Atlas and will provide a detailed account of the status of our birds both nationally and locally.
